Landyachtz Longboards - Getting Wild On The R5

This is the R5. The newest board design from the mad scientist Jody "Schnitzel" Wilcock and the newest board to be added to the Landyachtz Lineup. Tom (Meatball) Edstrand, Bricin (Striker) Lyons, and Matt (Grizz) Kroetsch headed up to the top of Cypress after work to put it through the paces and see what the rear zero degree turning could really do.

It's personal preference. My friends and I ride rather loose, like, loose to the point that we can freeride and carve on it, but that's just how we like it. Normally, don't tighten it too much, but don't keep it too loose. Make your front truck looser than the back truck so you can steer with the front. Remember it's better if it's a little loose than too tight because if it's too tight, your chance of wobble may increase depending. So just keep it at a comfortable tightness.

@chrisdev99 There are several differences.
1. The R5 has good bushings, the reason it doesn't turn from the tail is because the tail is wedged up at 40º. Combined with a 40º truck it will be at 0º (no turning). This means it acts more like a car in that all steering comes from the front.

2. The R5 is another variety of DH board. it is obviously a very different board from the evo.

thx 4 your answer. I bought the board. I set it up with Bear852, Bear840 wedged 8.5* Khiro riserpad.
changed the bushings in the front cause it was too soft and felt like a hammock. the 99 duro bushings did its stuff. man, it is an amazing board but at moment ONLY 4 DH. It felt like walk in the park at 57 km/h. anything else is not for this board and I was tinkering with tightening/ loosening the bushings but has made no sense. - TO BE CONTINUED -

@PhilyonToast1 this board will need 40 degrees trucks for the no steering effect on the back. considering paris is a 50 degree truck, I recommend bear 840's :)

i rode with some one the other day with one of these boards and my god did it fly. The guy started behind me and ended up passing me around half way down the hill. sweet boards

this thing is actually just like the old dh race but with 0* back angle! really stable!

GENIUS! I want one... I made some thing kinda like this by chopping the flat section of the tail on the switch and mounting the truck on the actual angled part of where the board drops.... It looks almost exactly the same as the R5 but I'm guessing the angles are much different
