3 A Case of Identity from The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1892) Audiobook

First published in 1893, being the third story in the collection of Sherlock Holmes exploits entitled The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, we find a case which gives the Baker St. consulting detective very little trouble. He is however, some critics have observed, a little less than ethical in dealing with his client at the denouement.

Nevertheless the story of Hosmer Angel is quite instructive as to the methods and character of Holmes.

When I first read this story, as a much younger man, I was taken aback over Holmes decision to withhold the truth from her. She came to him for truth that she did not get. I still feel that way. She would have Been shocked, but then able to take control of her life.

"If we could fly over this city hand in hand"... Holmes, are you absolutely sure that romance is stupid and a waste of time? 😂

I am so pleased I fell across these stories. It is so British - the tone and beautifully spoken words. Just music to the ears. Thank you x

I find that after listening to your recitations of these brilliant works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle that when I start any other version of these stories I am disappointed in the lack of depth and breadth of the portrayal by others. You really have captured my idea of how these characters likely would have sound in real life. Thank you for taking the time to read to us all these works including those of other great authors, eg, Chesterton, Carrol and others. I find I can listen to them repeatedly every now and again and they are still fresh and alive.

Best wishes and a Happy New Year for 2024 just as you wished for us in one of the Sherlock Holmes pastiches last year before I’d heard of you.

Sincerely,
John T. Inscrutable

Honestly, this has got to be my favorite Sherlock Holmes story. I've listened to it when I was a kid, and I have it pretty much memorized by heart. I've even been working on making it a stage production for theater, but adapted for a modern audience. Been working on it since the end of last year for my local college's theater club, but haven't really touched it since last month. Now, here I am with more tips from a new theater director who took a look at it. Hopefully, I can get this made into a theater or "film" production.
This audiobook sure is a fascinating take, I should also add. Well done with it!

Not just a story but an insight into a society that is a delight to discover but not to live in. Just love the woman's voice.

okay that bit of the guy taking out his false teeth and chucking them at his wife the first thing that came to mind was George Washington chucking them at his wife saying that they don't need anymore kids and that it was bad enough that there were ghost kids in the house ^^;;;

Recently discovered your site and love the very nice way you read the stories and the different subtle changes in voice as you move from character to character in the stories. Just introduced my wife to your readings. Very pleased. Thank you .

Finally, someone who understands you need a good VOICE to make a decent audiobook. Great Job in all elements. IMHO
