University protests: McGill, U of T pro-Palestinian protesters vow to stay until demands met

Protests against the war in Gaza are spreading across university campuses in Canada, as demonstrators in both Canada and the U.S. demand their schools to divest from Israel.

Demonstrators at the University of Toronto (UofT) were told to leave by 10 p.m. on Thursday night, but the school says the encampment won’t be removed as long as the protest remains peaceful.

Meanwhile, the encampment at McGill University has stretched into its seventh day and protesters have vowed they won’t leave until their demands are met.

Neetu Garcha reports on the protests as universities grapple with how to handle them.

Occupying a lawn on campus illegally, blocking people from going in there, refusing the request that they leave until all their demands are met - that's not a peaceful demonstration, that's holding someone for ransom

First of all, this is not a protest it's an occupation. Secondly, stating that you're not leaving until your demands are met, further solidifies that this is not a protest.
