I have to disagree. As a customer I hate it when the seller tries to push me to buy something. Just let me browse. When I see sellers doing that, I avoid going near that table. I shop better when someone isn't guilting or pushing me to make a purchase. I'm a vendor too, I see the customers looking uncomfortable when the sellers push too hard.

I've been selling handmade soap for 11 years. I've done a lot of shows where people just sit back and ignore their customers. You have to engage! I have people ask me what my favorite scent is, and no matter which one I pick, that's the one they buy more than any other.

Congratulations on your sale ! Thank you for the awesome selling tips. People say sell high but I feel the average person wants a good deal on handmade crafts. If they want to spend big it better be high-end quality. Thanks Matt and best wishes on your next sale !😊💖

Many women like to hang out and look without conversation until they decide. Women like to window shop first, choose, buy, and then converse. Just a tip.

All good points. The only thing is that at most of the outdoor shows I've done, the tents are set up smack up against each other so you can only fit 1 table front and center and the rest have to go inside the tent. You could spread out like you showed only if you paid for 2 spots or more, which of course adds to the cost of doing the show.

This video is still gold. I'm sharing with my friend who just discovered her love with wire! We are going to keep these tips in mind and see if we can't get out there and sell!

You can also use fitted sheets and fitted crib sheets for small tables. Works great!!!

I use fitted sheets as table cloths. They work amazing and I can change up the colors for cheap. Just wrap the fitted part around the front legs and there ya go.

This is very, very helpful, thank you. At our first show we started with the C and gave up about 2 hours in and went with the tables in the front. It helped but it was still a slow show, not enough stuff for sale. I like your tips for making sales.

Matt you can use weights for picnic table cloths too or sew heavy washers on corners of flat sheets, big fish weights. Even fitted twin sheets will fit some tables

This is very timely for me. Thank you! Thank you! MORE PLEASE! I have been asking their favorite crystal or color to get conversation going, but I’ll try asking their favorite piece and see if they’ll try it on - and update if it helps. I notice you use a lot of humor in your interactions, which I think helps you even though you didn’t highlight it. And do you discount everything? Or how frequently? Lastly at what point do you “greet every customer”Obviously when they have stopped at your booth, but do you also reach out to people that are passing by? Wait for eye contact?

It can be unsafe to push into the aisle. I’ve seen in the comments where you say that you have been spoken to, moved back, and then pushed forward again when they walked away. That sort of thing can get someone on a list of vendors who should be avoided.

And other vendors notice, since it can affect the flow of traffic and cause people to skip the neighboring vendors. Those vendors will talk to event coordinators as well, warning them of people who don’t follow the event rules. (I am an vendor coordinator myself as well as a vendor, and failure to follow rules can seriously limit what events people are welcome to vend at)

Your right about pricing pieces higher cause at markets hoomans always want to haggle the price ...I learned from doing shows put at least 3 or 5dollars more cause that's what they tend to discount.
And honestly if someone buy my item at the fake higher price I tell them they won a discount😁
That's just me.

Thank you so much for sharing this. It was very helpful to my husband and me. We are just starting out and this video hit all the major points: marketing, displays, etc. And you took us step by step of the process, which i like. Thanks again

Thing is I live in a fairly big city and every craft fair I have ever done won’t allow me to put my tables out front of my tent.
