MiG-29 fighters have arrived in Ukraine from Slovakia, according to the country's Ministry of Defense.

The Slovak government decided to donate 13 combat aircraft to the Armed Forces of Ukraine to counter the Russian invasion.

The first four fighters were handed over to Ukraine in March, taking off under the control of Ukrainian pilots, and Ukraine has now received the remaining nine MiG-29s.

Just a little pedantic correction. In this video it was said that those two nations were the only nations to give ukraine aircraft.

However helecopters are still classified as aircraft and the UK and the US have already given Ukraine aircraft, just not airplanes.

Meanwhile, another 2 Mig-39 fighters and 2 more Su-25 fighters were downed by Russian forces. These fighters will not change anything.

You are sharing incorrect informantion. - The remaining 9 did not fly by ukraine pilots. They were transported on land and they wont fly, they will be mainly used for spare as most have not flown in over a 15 years. The first 4 flew though!

They need planes that can fire longer-range air-to-air missiles and better, more modern aircraft.

22 Migs is a good boost, but experts say they need around 60 to be a game changer. I'm no expert but I think 22 Migs armed with Harm missiles and JDAMS can be absolutely devastating

I can't help but wonder if these jets got a few additional upgrades before being sent. It would certainly make sense.

Unfortunately for air to air engagement the missiles that the Ukrainian migs carry (R-27ER1) range up to 100 km and the radar on the MiG29s is about the same 100 km. Russia's air-to-air missiles ranges in excess of 160KM. They need AMRAAMs (AIM 120s) or the newer Joint Advanced Tactical Missile (AIM-260) both are said to outrange Russian missiles. The only way they can get those is if they use F16s, as the missiles need western radars, data links and computers for course correction updates.

We do not need to tell Russia what is really going on.. Just keep them guessing.

These will hold the line for a while, but Ukraine needs a lot more than this to successfully counter the VKS. I think France was looking at getting 40 Mirage 2000-9s from the UAEs to send to Ukraine. But the most plentiful fighter to send to Ukraine is the F-16.

correct adjective is Slovak, so Slovak MiGs, Slovak Ministry etc etc., not Slovakian

Since 2014, these aircraft have not been properly maintained. The ukraenienes collect, by all in the world, the flying bins.

Ive herd reports from experts that the gripen would be a good fit for Ukraine. Rough field capability easy to work in the field. Logistics would be easier
