That Austrian duke though. "Helps" the king then leaves after a quick victory. Then he proceeds to capture the king and annex three of his counties. SUPER helpful lol.

Is it me or the mongols had an entire array of very competent generals during that century.

Historia Civilis, Baz Battles, Kings and Generals and now you, I love these type of videos, especially if they are made with care, just like you do!

Amazing work! I really liked the huge amount of detail that you put into this video. You mentioned a lot of important stuff that I missed from other videos, like the cumans and the hate from the nobility towards Béla. I absolutely loved the map of the battlefield too with all the correct names of the settlements (there is 1 or 2 misspelled names but it's more than okay), it really shows your dedication. Thanks for this great video you just got yourself a new subscriber.

Tzun Tsu was right about the morale effects for having a retreat.
- in the first battle, the Mongols were with their back to the river. So they could not really retreat. While the Hungarians had a "safe" camp to retreat too
- And then again. the southern escape route being left seemingly open got people to flee - to be cut down.

Very well done! A high quality video visually, and I was impressed with your research here. While I think your coverage of the reasons for the Mongol westward expansion could have been given more detail, as with the period after the defeat at Mohi (you do cover it in the cards at the end, and understandably there is a limit to have much information you can put in one video) the campaign itself was well covered. The context of the battle is very important to have clear to understand why it is important, and I think it is worth the effort to spend more time on that and shave a little bit off the battle itself (but that's just me, as someone who is more interested in the historical period rather than the actual battle)

Perhaps a bit more on the army composition and fighting styles would be a good addition, and who is on each side and their significance, which makes it easier to relate to the impact of political factors on the campaigns. Not to mention showing which generals are on which side in a card perhaps of sorts? You mention Shiban at one point, one of Jochi's sons and Batu's brother, but I don't think had mentioned him prior to then, making him come out of nowhere somewhat.

The pronunciation of the Mongolian names was perhaps a bit weak (Chinggis Khan, not Genghis!) but I did like that you said Pest properly! Overall nicely done, very impressive and I definitely look forward to more!

This is an incredible breakdown especially the timeline in minute detail. I am impressed with the way you expressed the battle formations as well. That was very helpful in visualize the action on the battlefield as it unfolded. Thanks for doing this. I never researched or studied the Mongol incursions into Europe and this was very interesting and enlightening.

The Demand for channels like this outweighs the current Youtube Supply. Super happy to see another quality channel filling that gap. Keep up the awesome content!

Came from Bazbattles. Nice videos. Just remove the bong sound effects with maybe the sound of a flag flapping. Loved the detail. Keep it up. You are very enthusiastic !

I read that the Mongols pulled out because their Grand Khan died and so they had to all go back to Mongolia to choose a new Grand Khan.

The fact that a unified political entity waged war from Korea to Hungary in the 1240s!!!! is just mind-meltingly epic.

Amusing to see the battle of Legnica mentioned as a minor sideshow. In Polish historiography Legnica was THE battle fought against the Mongol invasion. Most Poles will never have heard of Mohi, even though it was 5 to 10 times bigger and far more important in the campaign as a whole.

What are you using to create your battlefield maps? BazBattles looks VERY similar. Is it a piece of software or a Photoshop brush set?

During the three videos of yours I've watched over the past hour, you've gained 300 new subs. That's a pretty phenomenal rate given that your base subscriptions arn't all that high at present. If it continues at that rate you'll be knocking on 100k subs in no time. Content wins prizes :)
