Water levels along the Grand River are continuing to rise with the steady rain. However, they are expected to crest in the next day or so -- provided the area doesn't see anymore heavy rainfall. The Grand River in Grand Rapids is expected to crest Friday morning at around 20 feet.

Outside of Kent County, flooding is an issue for Ottawa and Muskegon co unties. The counties both declared local state of emergencies over the weekend. The declarations will assist in coordination of additional resource, according to the county office.

A flood warning remains in effect for the Grand River in Kent and Ottawa counties. The flood advisory for Muskegon County has expired.

My father never pumped the water out of our basement when the river flooded. Sometimes the weight of the water surrounding the house was so great, foundations were known to collapse and take the entire house down. It never happened by us.

I've been to Grand Rapids. I am beyond shocked to find this towns name in the thumbnail listing. Another flood tragedy. I send my prayers.
