Skid Steer Backhoe : Blue Diamond Attachments

In the 1980's I used a Bobcat with a skid steer attachment for landscape purposes. It was fantastic for digging and planting 24 to 48 inch box trees. We even used it for our 15 gallon trees on some jobs. WAY faster than a typical backhoe however for trenching, as in foundations, it was not ideal due to alignment issues.

I was thinking of getting a mini excavator or a skid steer.
Does getting this attachment negate the need for a mini excavator?..and sticking with skid steer/excavator attachment.
