I was wondering if a USB-A to Ethernet adapter would work with the dock? I used one with my OG Switch dock and it worked fine, so I'm guessing that it would work here as well.

Aww shucks, there's always some compromise with these docks and dongles! It's unfortunate that this one lacks ethernet. Otherwise it would be perfect for my needs. Well, maybe it's not vital because I probably wouldn't do competitive online gaming with the Deck.

I want a hub that's guaranteed to be compatible with both Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch. But most Steam Deck docks are not compatible with the Switch (and not only because of the form factor), and most USB-C hubs are quite unreliable when it comes to power delivery. Most issues with some random 3rd Party docks arise from bad power delivery protocols, so they really can fry a chip in your Switch if they deliver too much power or uneven power.

So guaranteed-to-work-with docks are usually only for Deck or Switch, or they lacks features like ethernet.
