Fasten your seatbelts and ride Lisbon tram 28 with me! Lisbon's picturesque hilltop neighborhoods and narrow streets, abroad a 1930's wooden tramcar, one of Lisbon's unmissable experiences.

Tram 28 follows the route: Martim Moniz - Graca - Alfama - Portas do Sol Viewpoint - Lisbon cathedral - Baixa/Downtown - chiado - Sao Bento - Estrela - Campo de ourique.

These historic trams are still in use, as the Lisbon 28 tram route is completely unsuitable for modern trams, due to its numerous tight turn, narrow streets and steep gradients. Tram 28 follows a very scenic route, passing through many of Lisbon's historic districts and provides one of the best tours of the city.

Tram 28 in Lisbon is top choice in Alfama, Castelo & Graça. Don't leave the city without riding popular tram 28E from Largo Martim Moniz. This rickety, screechy, gloriously old-fashioned ride from Praça Martim Moniz to Campo de Ourique provides 45 minutes of mood-lifting views and absurdly steep climbs. The tramway does not loop, so you will have to get out at the terminus to take another tramway 28 if you want to go the other way around.

All of Lisbon's trams and buses are operated by Carris and the fare system covers all tram routes. On the Articulado trams, tickets are purchased from the on-board ticket machines while on the older Remodelado they are bought from the driver. If you buy a single ticket for the Tram 28 onboard, it will cost €3 (regardless of how far you travel). If you have a prepaid transport card, the ride will cost €1.50. The Tram 28 will be free if you are using the Lisboa Card.
