Hi Steve, great video tomato tasting session. I love sweet million, my favourite cherry tomato 🍅 Thanks for sharing and take care 😊

Another recommendation for Rosella here. The most prolific variety I've grown this year. Lovely taste and plenty ripening despite the awful weather. I love a tomato taste testing video... fingers crossed for more 😂

Hi Steve
Loved the video, as you said we all have different tastes.
As most of your viewers are saying not a good year for tomatoes, I still not a ripe one from the greenhouses yet.
Looking forward to next tasting
Take care

I'm growing Starfighter Prime (none ripe yet) And I can't wait to see what "half a wow" tastes like! Cheers, Audrey

Boy your spot on form today 😂😂. I am ha ha she always says in fall, “I’m growing less varieties next season”. I’m finding the same some are just too much of a faff for such small harvests. And like you mine are so sporadic to ripen so we are only getting one or two at a time. I will let you know my favourite if I ever get any. Have a super day, Ali ☔️🌞🇨🇦

Ps you need to up get a few words from the thesaurus 😂😂 savoury comes to mind

😮 too many tomatoes to taste test at once Steve! Liked the orderly way of tasting. Time for salsa or other fresh uses 😁. Thanks for sharing. Take care.

Excellent presentation Steve, love the graphics and construction of the taste test. Not a fan of T Tom or Red Alert but I quite like Sweet Million

I agree with you about Gartenperle, I grew it and "we" thought it was not worth the hassle. and never grew it again.

Hi Steve, You have done well to get so many to ripen 👏. About 80% of mine still green and with cooler nights arriving, it is a bit concerning. Are any of these varieties bred for preserving?

I've had an abysmal tomato growing season with the blight wiping out everything in all three tunnels and greenhouse.

Loving the Samwise quote Tee :D

I've got 27 varieties (+4 not correct) this year (all container grown in Morrisons plant buckets). I really need to do a taste testing like this and make some notes haha. Could I ask what those little round things you have them on are?

I actually have quite a few this year that are seeds I ordered from Meraki Seeds in Greece, I've been really impressed by the huge variety they have and all the seeds germinated and have grown well and true to what they are supposed to be (Unlike a rather disappointing company I ordered from in Yorkshire that all the seeds are not what they say!) so I've just put another order in with Meraki for some new ones to try next year :D I've never grown any green ones before, so I ordered I think 3 types.

I have gone for a few more paste-type toms this year as well as I found I enjoy making big batches of soup and pasta sauce. Big Mama has been a firm fave for 3 years, San Marzano 2 I'm growing this year have also been excellent, will grow them again.

Here's my list of ones I've grown this year. (The ones with NOT at the start are the ones that are not what they were sold/labelled as from that dodgy company):

Artisan blush tiger
San Marzano 2
Suncherry premium
Sweet Casaday
Piramide
Orkado F1
Chocolate cherry
Consuelo
Roma
Nagina
Big pink
Bloody butcher
Rapunzel
Big Mama
Black Moon
Moonlight Mile
Indigo rose
Black Opal
Gardener's delight
Aladdin's Lamp
Britain's Breakfast
Sungold
Ballen Multi-flora
Heaven's Joy
Jen's Tangerine
Can Bogunya Long-keeper
Ivory Tears
(NOT) Delicious, World Record Largest
(NOT) Amish paste (ordered 3 packs of these as well!)
(NOT) Tomatoberry
(NOT) Artisan Purple Bumblebee

These ones I've ordered for trying next year:

Märchenengel
Glorias Treat
Tiger Paw
Geranium Kiss Multi-Flora
Thorburn's Terra-Cotta
Iva’s Sweet White Cherry
Santorini
Purple Dog Creek Beefsteak
Shimofuri
Amish Gold
Cafe Bule
Delta
Emerald Pear
Green Krim
Grinch

Bad Tomato year for me too, thanks for the video. That Green Tom may be the same as Bloody Butcher, which does not develop its full taste untill its almost over-ripe!

I don't have a greenhouse but grow toms outside. Most have not yet ripened but I have had a few Rosella - very sweet and a very thin skin. Last year's best was Bloody Butcher: tangy, old-fashioned flavour.
