In the United States, we have some profession people hate. Not just the consumers but the people that are doing these jobs. Some jobs are just universally despised. Car and life insurance agents, you'd think, would be a person that helps and people love. That isn't always the case. The same goes for lawyers, especially accident lawyers.

Influencers are mostly malignant narcissists. Also you all need to stop automatically praising nurses. I’m a nurse and I’ve worked with some truly despicable people.

When I started law school 46 years ago I was taught that lawyers always had been and always would be the most despised profession. It's good to see we've fallen to second place.

I'm genuinely surprised HR and middle management didn't make the list, they deserve at least a no.8 and 7 respectively

As a former life insurance agent, I can attest that it's a shady job. I was told by my manager to lie and manipulate my prospects emotions. If you don't have any problems with compromising your morals you'll do great.

In my opinion, it wasn't parents and children who listed principal as the most hated profession. It was teachers.

Former car salesman...cant begin to tell you how much I hate it and am glad Im no longer doing it. It sucks for both the customers and the dealership employees
Long hours, working on weekends/holidays, no sale = no pay, being taken advantage of by older and more experienced salesmen and management that sweet talks you about making crazy money but then set you up for failure

This is not to mention the Karens you deal with. Hell, even perfectly nice people become Karens the second they step into the sales floor

Here in Seattle the most despised are the Parking Enforcment Officers, the ones who ride around in little vehicles ticketing bigger vehicles.

I went to school with my auto mechanic and he treats my family very well and is totally honest. I do not like having to go to him to get something fixed - money I'd rather not have to spend. But he does our inspections and oil changes as well. Great guy.

As a contractor, this one is further down the list for me.
The respondent you mentioned hit the nail on the head. No pun intended lol.
It's insanity difficult to find anyone who wants to work, and if you do, laborers want almost as much as skilled tradesmen.
The positive side of it is, I have more jobs fixing other's shoddy work than I know what to do with.

As for insurance salesman, I think the adjusters are worse. Your doctor says you need a prescription, procedure, surgery, whatever, but Brad at the insurance company and his high school diploma, disagree. How are they able to override and delay treatments so often with so little oversight.

I actually have a cousin who is a telemarketer, a legal one. Just a guy trying to make his rent like anyone else. He did tell me once that the only people actually happy to answer his calls are typically seniors citizens in nursing homes. People if you have a relative in a home visit as often as possible, they are lonely.
My political science teacher once told me if you want a job with a 100% chance of most people hating you, be a politician.

Truck driving is hands down the most disrespected Profession in the United States. Besides dealing with bad drivers, and yes most everyday drivers have very bad habits. But Similar to the police, your dealing with all kinds of people.

Mom and Pop auto mechanics. I had a guy who was the BEST. Sadly he retired over a year ago and it's been a hassle finding someone else. Stay away from tire places like Brake Masters, Big O, etc. They do scare tactics and overcharge for services you don't need using the exact "worst case" Briggs said.

Also for Lawyers, be wary many have turned into debt collectors as a side gig. I feel bad for student loan borrowers in a couple months. I've since paid mine off but the one they kept hounding me for was an ugly situation where my info was used after cosigning one loan and had to pay that while the main signer basically kept moving so much they couldn't get a hold of him and zeroed in on me. Lesson well learned, don't trust anyone when they want help in the form of a co-signer. Co-sign if you're married or for your kid if they can prove themselves, and even then DON'T EVER CO-SIGN.

35 years in construction as a general contractor mostly and agree that a lot of contractors (or especially their employees) will half-ass their work. As "old school" I was fortunate enough to learn the right way things should be done and expect the same from my subs and have hadadn still have great relationships with my clients. Regarding telemarketers calling, I find it works well if you ask "Why the F are you calling a business?" and they rarely bother me again.
