At 18 I moved across the world alone from Haiti to Spain. This is m story about moving to Spain. Hey guys! my last video about being a black girl in Spain did so well, and I've received a specific comment about being here and noticed I haven't exactly openly spoken about how I got here and why I am here. So in this video where I speak about how I moved across the world all alone at 18 although I was going onto 19 that same month.

After graduating high school in Haiti, it was time to get that college education I always wanted. Because of my financial situation, I couldn't go to my dream school UBC in British Colombia Canada, the colleges in the US were out of the question because of the high tuition for international students. So I started looking at options more across the world, and I found this school in Spain. I go more into details in the video of how bad my first year was, not only was I alone, in a new country but it was so hard for me to fit in and make friends because the people I had met at that time weren't very friendly.

Regardless after two years I got used to Spanish life and I love it here. In general, I do not regret moving across the world all the way from Haiti to Spain, enduring hours in a plane. I haven't been able to film my experience much because I am mostly home all the time. I am sad that for two years I've missed out on the fun part of being a foreigner in a new country. I guess it's one of the reasons why I'm hoping to go on an exchange program by September to another country, for one year though. Maybe I'll have a better experience there in terms of meeting new people that I click with and all of that.

Thank you for watching and don't forget to subscribe, like, and comment.

You are so corageous! I'm Spanish and moved to Scotland with 21 😀 now I'm in my 30's and live in Italy. Who knows where your adventures might take you! . Sometimes we travellers face loneliness, but on the other hand we ironically get to meet many people... so we can choose who to stay with or where to stay. My advice to everybody is to learn to listen to your heart (even if it sounds naive) and be brave. You are also cute, but sometimes that's a disadvantage more than an advantage. Good conversations and true feelings lay deep in people's lives once you get to know them. Keep on with your good job, you seem like a stand up person!

I can’t believe they didn’t give you your money back. It’s such an awful feeling when institutions like that do you wrong. Glad you’re new uni better ♥️ This video kept getting recommended so I thought I’d check it out!

BC gal here :) Sorry you couldnt come here for your dream studies, it is quite costly for intl students especially in BC which is expensive even to the rest of Canada. "BC = Bring Cash", as they say. Hopefully you can still make it here one day :) Thx for sharing!

I live in Australia and I want to move to Alicante. I started learning spanish last year and it’s been a dream of mine ever since. I may not have enough money saved to do it next year, but definitely in the next few years:)

Try Barcelona? It’s a lot more cosmopolitan with more to do + really down to earth people.
Sending love from a black brit planning on moving there Sept 2022

Maybe try Barcelona or Madrid? I know they’re more expensive but most of my friends who are students met tons of people and they don’t feel super lonely majority of the time. You kinda just gotta put yourself out there.

He quedado impresionado.

Do you know that you can report this first university who was thieving to you? for get back your money. I am saying, that Yes, you can do it online in 'ayuda Al consumirdor' o 'derechos del cliente' ir something like that. You can explain what happen and they can help you to get your money back at least from the rest of the years that you didn't used. Because your first year you should paid, but not the rest ones.
And also I think that you was feeling so bad about trying to know people in your college, but no because of you, because they was being bad with you. Making you feel a part from them. But don't worry it's not your fault. There's a lot of Spanish posh people that they do that to a lot of other people. Just because they think that they are better or superior.
I hope that you can feel better after this. It was not you and you can still fix it.
