Today I’m sharing a behind-the-scenes look at the making of “There Are No Shadows in LA,” the sixth song from my new album #TheElephantAndTheSeahorse.

I once moved to Los Angeles for a relationship. I remember walking around and feeling like no matter what time of day it was, it always seemed like 2 in the afternoon. I never understood why until I realized that in New York I was used to seeing shadows move along the ground from the buildings, and it helped me keep track of the time of day. There were no tall buildings in LA to cast shadows on the ground… and it occurred to me that it was hard to see the passage of time anywhere… in the hours of the day, in the changing seasons, or even in the lines on people’s faces.

This song was written with the brilliant Tyler Lyle and features Dave Eggar on cello and Megan Slankard on BG Vox. Stay tuned for another behind-the-scenes video coming at you next Friday! Much love, A
