I like using it to pump blood to my low back as a warm up before I lift or roll, I didn’t think people considered this an actually muscle builder.

Good for lower back pain rehabilitation

To his credit, Mike's assessment was a lot less brutal than the title suggests.

Supermans are more for athletes like footballers (soccer players), ice hockey players (especially goalies) etc. Not great for hypertrophy training or strength training, but they do have a purpose.

Gymnasts do them with a static hold for core strength.

You seem to call things crap if theyre not ideal for hypertrophy. Just brcause its not good for hypertrophy doesnt make it nevessarily crap, it depends on the goals while doing it.

i mean it is a warm up, and the primary purpose would be getting blood flowing to the tissues so shortened position isnt really a problem in fact it would probably be better because actively squeezing the muscle is going to promote blood flow to that area.

If you stick your arms out and roll, its a great obliques exercise. Add an oblique v up to it on each side and youve got a killer move.

I mean with deadlifts and good mornings the erectors only get a shortened isometric so, while I agree for growth doing something dynamic with a good stretch is ideal I think anything dynamic, like reverse hypers, that are shortened bias are still pretty solid

I like these for correcting posture strengthening with the floor to help alignment and reaching hands up to get more rom through shoulders and lats

I find it amazing how many people struggle doing a basic set of 20 of these

These are actually great for maintaining/fixing posture. I’ve used it heaps after having back issues or being sat at a desk job all day… is it good for muscle building? Hell no! But it’s gets your entire posterior chain very switched on. I feel like all of these videos from similar channels should have some disclaimer in them that this is purely in a body building context rating exercises based on hypertrophy credentials alone.

I would love RP to do a video of Arnold presses versus standard overhead dumbbell presses for hypertrophy. I can’t see a benefit to doing Arnold presses. The starting point of the movement does not engage the deltoids in any significant way, and you have to lower the weight to accommodate for thatadditional initial starting movement. Why not just do the standard press with a higher weight for better hypertrophy?

So what is the name of lying on a bench or chair, hip on the corner, and moving your upper body from being in a 90 ° angle, l to being in a straight line holding and then moving down until you're back at 90°?
