I Collected ALL 3,072 Tropical Fish in Minecraft Hardcore

I spent 712 hours of my life collecting fish. Oh, and I also built a giant aquarium to hold all the aquatic mobs in the game. I even collected the super rare blue axolotl, all the frogs, dolphins, turtles, guardians, and squid. It was big, it was beautiful, and I only cried a little.

A commonly known glitch is that if the player gets too far from the dolphins, their ai stops, causing them to drown. Maybe try a chunk loader in the dolphin enclosure so their ai doesn't stop.

I think the reason why the dolphins wete disappearing is a combination of 2 things

1) You used a lead on them... Underwater. They need to reach air to breathe or they will suffocate.

2) At a certain distance, Minecraft stops loading any mob AI and they just freeze in place. So, your dolphins were drowning because of that.

A chunk loader might help, tho i don't know if that's a solution. The other solution is to put them in soul sand for the rest of their existence.

Dolphins actually get unloaded when you go far away, which in turn causes them to not be able to move to GET TO THE SURFACE FOR AIR so they suffocate and die. That's why you needed to search for new dolphins.
