Echoes of the Eye is a wonderful return to the clockwork solar system of Outer Wilds, even if its occasional horror game sections aren't quite as interesting as what came before.

The "stealth" sections are completely avoidable with some creative problem solving. You can stealth them if you want but it's not compulsory. It was so satisfying to figure out how to avoid those parts

The scariest part of the DLC was the Intro Message that informs you of the option to "reduce frights" :D
Otherwise the DLC is exactly as scary as the base game, it just depends on what kind of stuff scares you - Outer Wilds has everything now :D

In my opinion, the original game was 10/10 and this DLC is 9/10, because the game doesn't go further to explain the Aliens from Strange World. The reviewer complains about the horror part, but man, the original game was also a horror game for me. The Angler's Fish from Dark Bramble, the whole Giant's Deep planet also frighten me to hell. That scary black hole in a middle of a planet...man this game is scary as hell, because the universe is scary...and wonderful at the same time.

Disagree with the review, outer wilds to me felt like the most pure and true form of cosmic horror. so the fact that the dlc is horror fits nicely

The original Outer Wilds had the place where you had to survive giant deadly monsters with super-hearing. You know, Dark Bramble. Saying that horror doesn't fit in Outer Wilds is a very strange point.

The way the DLC combined regular Outer Wilds exploration with horror elements was so exciting and was probably my favorite thing about it. I'm so glad they didn't just do more of the same. That really wouldn't have been in the spirit of the original game.
