What's the intuition for why there doesn't exist a core allocation in a simple game without a veto player?

In the ice-cream game, there are no veto players (each coalition of 2 players has a positive value) and the core is non-empty (for instance, (500, 250, 250) is in the core). Is the ice-cream game not a simple coalitional game? Or is (500, 250, 250) not in the core? Am I missing something?

Isn't your example of a superadditive game not being convex wrong, since the S and T sets aren't disjoint? superadditivity requires 2 disjoint sets.
