When I got to Sierra Madre the first time, I was underleveled and vastly underprepared. That was truly a survival horror experience. Next time I played, I got there after all DLC's and the place felt like home.

I do Lonesome Road last because it just feels like the last adventure the Courier does before he fights at Hoover Dam. The dialogue, the way its presented, where it's located, it all feels like the last adventure to be completed.

Collecting chips in the Sierra Madre feels like scrounging for nickels in the Walmart parking lot to get something off the McDonald's dollar menu, complete with dodging the meth tweakers

Melee/Unarmed/Energy build: Fun
Explosive build: Decent
Gun build: Totally, unironically hell

Also. Finish old world blues to get the teleport gun, so you can teleport with your gold to your base

You can actually trivialize the dlc even more by taking combat armor in with you from the Silver Rush, if you do it at the rigt time in their quests when you have it, it'll continue to be marked as a quest item

I liked Dead Money a lot at the start. Removing all of my equipment and starting me over from scratch brought a great deal of challenge, since I now had to be smart, stealthy, and wary of resources. And then you quickly become overpowered

I was not expecting a Ghost Person to yell out in clear English.

Well if you’re running a melee build you can use the bear trap fist, target an enemy in vats and then do a cross attack, which kills him instantly (if it lands), you can run this dlc fairly easy doing that

I remember how scared I was playing this for the first time. And especially when you had to climb the tower to turn something on (I haven't played the game for a bit). I only had 20 rounds for my BAR and little more than a dozen shots for my police revolver. When I finished it and killed or escaped the ghost people, I remember the relief that washed over me. Such a good DLC I wish I could "begin again" for the first time... again

how? Aren’t all your items stripped beforehand anyways? Lol

Not much point. Only problem I had with this DLC was my chronic explosive aneurysm, eye-bleeding and ability to get lost on literally single street.

I usually do Sierra Madre first. Holorifle fully upgraded is a beast of a weapon and makes the rest of the run a cake walk. Grabbing a bear trap fist will let you own the Ghost People easily. If you feel the need to start with an energy weapon, cozy up to the Brotherhood before entering the Sierra Madre and get the unmarked quest to find the lost laser pistol. Until you turn it in, it will always be on you. Not that a laser pistol is a decent weapon for this DLC.

I feel like Lonesome Road is the true ending of New Vegas and Ulysses being a last boss is way better on every level than Lanius or Lee Olivier.

I also make sure to get fist of rawr before starting dead money

If you have to compromise by messing up the intended narrative order of DLC just to get some OP unique, you might just be bad.

keengbookah

You can do that in the game because Rawr’s talon is marked as a quest item and quest items can’t be removed from your inventory

I love doing shotgun builds for most of my characters. However, the first and only time I played dead money I was so scared because my character had I think 17 for unarmed and 25 for melee.

I wanted him to leave a little gift called the Red Glare for me at the Sierra Madre.
