I think the superstition with the two old ladies is a regional thing. I live in northern Hessen and have never heard of it.
My favorite thing about Germany is the many the different dialects and cultures in an areal small country.

The thing about open windows is also mostly wrong. The video most likely refers to the old wives tale of "Zugluft" - which could be translated as "air current" -, a constant flow of air which is supposed to give you a cold. Many Germans belief that sitting in something like that for some amount of time can give you a runny nose. Examples would be open car windows while driving, strong fans, air conditioning or the airflow through several open doors or windows. Since many Germans also are very strict about regularly letting fresh air into every room of the house, there are still some people who pay great care on just opening one window at a time to prevent "unhealthy" air currents.

Nobody will bring you a beer if you just raise your thumb or any fingers at all in a German pub. Unless you are a regular who never orders anything else or you already had some beers, so that the server might guess what you want. How should they tell what kind of beer you want or whether you don't want liqour or a glass of water instead. Contrary to popular belief German bartenders aren't psychic. The truth is: To order a beer in Germany, you order a beer. You can show with your fingers how many you want then, if you want to, but then it doesn't matter much which fingers you actually use.
