Which Version of FL Studio Should I Get? (2024)

I made another version of this video a few years ago and it's one of my best performing videos. However, FL Studio has gone through a bunch of updates since then, including a new version of FL Studio. I wanted to do another up to date version with a bit more info about plugins and features. There's also been a major price update which I'll talk about in the video.

The version of FL Studio that you get is going to depend on what you need. In this video I'll cover all the most important features to know about, including some of my favorite plugins in each version.

An important thing to be aware of is that with the Fruity Edition you can't even record or drag audio clips into the playlist, which in my opinion makes this version basically useless. From the producer edition on, you'll have access to all the features you'll need in FL Studio, it's just a matter of which plugins you think you'll use. A lot of people hate on stock FL Studio plugins, but if you actually know how to use them properly, many are extremely powerful. I recommend learning how to use all your stock plugins before going out and buying a bunch of other plugins that you may not need. I have a ton of tutorials on this channel about various stock FL Studio plugins.

The producer edition seems to be the best option for a newbie. Especially since you can always upgrade later on. Its 150 right now. All plugins is 374. Which would be great for someone who is serious and not completely brand new to music creation.

If I get to a decent enough level and continue using the software, I will most definitely upgrade. But with my newbie status, I cannot justify getting that at the moment.

I used the trial for a long time to get to grips with FL Studio because I was a complete beginner to music making. I eventually purchased the all plugins edition when I realised it is worthwhile and that the features I was using most in trial were not in the other versions. Apart from not being able to reopen saved files in the trial version, it does allow you to really explore the daw. I wrote my first piece with the trial and its limitations actually made me understand my song better because I had rewrite from the beginning a few times.

Bro the fruity addition is great I got that first and upgraded gradually when I realised why I needed the signature bundle. I will be upgrading to the all plugin version later when I actually need it

The way Ive been getting around the whole "cannot load saves" is by sending my file to my friend who then sends it back and I can then open the file again

All plugins all the way. I bought it for $300 I believe on a Black Friday sale. I thought I’d just get all the current plugins at that time, but no, I’ve gotten everything that has come out since.

If you're in the market for a new computer try to buy one that comes with FL Producer Edition included like I did. I got a Razer laptop and it came with FL so when I upgraded to the all plugins bundle I only had to pay $200.

I had the full version albeit cracked!! to see if i like the DAW it was full of every Native Plugin i treat my self to the.... same Edition Producer software got the much sort after E-Licence near Xmas to find out when id brought the DAW Its as hardly any of its own Plugs what a S**t lucky it has i of my fav plugin SYTRUS !! then FLEX Which im still not decided on ..This is a grate video with your experience David taking people thought fl Studio" DAW OPTIONS" is Spot on.

Well try it first. I bought the producer version to just abandon it after 3 months because I couldn't work with the workflow of FL.
Utilize the test version of different Daws so you get a feeling. You always can upgrade

You can always start at the beginning. And work your way up in increments if money is tight. But i got the whole enchilada. It was worth the purchase.

well after..what 10? 15 years? this was last video i watched before pulling the trigger an buying FL studios. iv wanted to learn how to make beats an play around with this. I've downloaded the demo idk how many times. tonight i used your Link an purchased it. i need a new hobby.

I started with the signature edition but producer would work well enough. With that said IL does like to tuck a lot of the cooler plugins away into the all plugins bundle. You can find a lot of free alternatives however. I was lucky enough to catch an end of the year sale and upgrading to all plugins was cheaper and worth it.
