You can take the q10 bus and transfer to a union turnpike for Manhattan bound train. All for 2.90.
No LIRR at night and at night there is very little LIRR. Subway is not that crowded at this station at night.
Be very careful at night if you are taking lirr at night. During the day he is correct.

The Long Island Rail Road goes to Grand Central (shown in the video) OR Penn Station, also in midtown Manhattan but definitely not as nice lol.
