The National Aquarium - also known as National Aquarium in Baltimore and formerly known as Baltimore Aquarium - is a non-profit public aquarium located at 501 East Pratt Street on Pier 3 in the Inner Harbor area of downtown Baltimore, Maryland, in the United States. Constructed during a period of urban renewal in Baltimore, the aquarium opened on August 8, 1981. The aquarium has an annual attendance of 1.5 million visitors and is the largest tourism attraction in the State of Maryland. The aquarium holds more than 2,200,000 US gallons (8,300,000 l) of water, and has more than 17,000 specimens representing over 750 species.

Exhibits

Level 1: Blacktip Reef
This 265,000-US-gallon (1,000,000 l) habitat, replicating an Indo-Pacific reef landscape (living corals are exhibited elsewhere in the National Aquarium), can be seen from many vantage points, including a new floor-to-ceiling pop-out viewing window. It contains 65–70 species, mostly fish (including blacktip reef shark and Zebra shark).

Level 2: Maryland: Mountains to the Sea
This level features animals that are native to Maryland. The four exhibits create the illusion that the viewer is traveling down a Maryland stream from its source in the Allegheny Mountains, to a tidal marsh, to a coastal beach, and finally ending at the Atlantic shelf.

Level 3: Surviving Through Adaptation, Living Seashore
This level features fish that possess adaptations that are needed to survive in their various environments. For example, the electric eel has the rare ability to shock its prey with electricity. Featured animals include electric eel, chambered nautilus, and giant Pacific octopus.

Level 4: Sea Cliffs, Kelp Forest, Pacific Coral Reef, Amazon River Forest
This level displays several aquatic habitats, including a sea cliffs exhibit, which houses several species of seabirds; a Pacific coral reef exhibit; a kelp forest exhibit; and an Amazon River forest exhibit, in which animals can be seen down in the water and up in the overlying foliage. Animals here include Atlantic puffin in the Sea Cliffs exhibit, leopard sharks in the Kelp forest exhibit, Banggai cardinalfish in the Pacific Coral Reef, and Arrau turtle in the Amazon River Forest exhibit.

Level 5: Upland Tropical Rain Forest, Hidden Life
This level simulates the Amazon rainforest, and includes two elevated platforms for bird-watching and a cave of various glass-enclosed displays of reptiles, amphibians, and terrestrial arthropods.

Atlantic Coral Reef
This large 335,000-US-gallon (1,270,000 l) exhibit replicates the Atlantic coral reef, and is filled with more than 500 exotic species that would be found anywhere from closer to shore to out into the trench and open ocean.

Pier 4 Pavilion
This smaller building, opened in 1990, features the marine mammal exhibit, which is home to Atlantic bottlenose dolphins in a 1,300,000-US-gallon (4,900,000 l) facility. It also holds a temporary exhibit on assorted jellyfish called "Jellies Invasion: Oceans Out of Balance".

I was young as i watched the Aquarium being built..and now with my own family enjoy it quite often... it's always something new and it's still as interesting as it was when i went with my parents... it's still a great place for families to enjoy for years to come.

I've watched at least a hundred museum videos and you do a great job of educating the viewer by filming all the informational signage. But you short us on the incredible exhibits and animals that we watch these videos to see. I haven't timed it- but perhaps you should time how much film is on the video/photo and written info and staircases, and how much is on the actual exhibits.

Hey Tom, i finally finished this video last night, my apologises for taking so long to watch it. The week this came out, i was working every day except Wednesday and Sunday so i wasn't able to watch a whole lot, you know me, i like to read all the signage.
But i really enjoyed this video Tom! Very nice aquarium, that`s for sure!
My favourite section was the Amazon River section, just something about all the big fish fascinates me. This is my favourite tank: 40:08, well one of them anyway, that arawana was huge! Absolute unit!
The various reef tanks in this video were absolutely beautiful! So pretty! I found the last section of the video very interesting, how fast jellies can take over, i was quite immersed in my reading to tell you the truth.
What was your favourite section of this aquarium Tom?
Once again Tom, amazing job with this video!
Also: coming up on 5K Subscribers Tom! Wee Hoo!!
I had a rather nasty cold this week ( not COVID ), which is another reason i`m late to finishing this video. But i`m back to myself now! And no school today because a pipe busted in my school last night, so i have a free day, woo!
I loved the dolphins near the end of the video as well, how many were there total? I counted 4, it`s good to know that they`re going to have a bigger home soon!
One more thing before i go: you may have noticed my new profile picture. It`s Godzilla from the recent highly successful Godzilla VS Kong, in this shot, Godzilla is charging up his atomic breath to drill a hole through the center of the Earth into the Hollow Earth ( where the Titans in the Monsterverse originated from, the Monsterverse is the series that Godzilla and Kong are part of ), because he senses Kong down there, he drills this hole from Hong Kong, this scene leads to a big battle between Godzilla and Kong.
Looking forward to your reply Tom! I hope you`re well!

Hey Tom!
My reply I just made isn’t popping up for some reason on the most recent Community Tab Post for one reason or another.
I’ll put it here, tell me if you see this!
I firmly believe that you are living the best part of your life right now.
I’m very sorry to hear you wet through all that! Really I am!
No one should have to go through that but it’s not exactly up to us unfortunately.
I’m very happy to hear that you’re doing better now!
It deeply saddens me to hear that such a nice and great person had to go through that!

Is it just me or does the black tip reef exhibit look a little under-maintained? I mean the water looks like it has a brownish tint. Anyways thankyou for posting this video it was really relaxing to watch!

Why would they have a Triggerfish and a Tang in a touch tank because both those fish can be highly aggressive

I live in Maryland and this aquarium is a huge let down to me at this point. Not bcuz it isn’t well kept n a cool place. But bcuz I feel like after all these years this place should be an amazing place n one of the biggest aquariums in the world. It’s called the national aquarium n it’s really small. The Georgia aquarium should be the national aquarium.
