The Navajo Code Talkers… one of the first minority groups to be recruited by the United States Marines if not the first.

In this video, Navajo Historian Wally Brown shares about the Code Talkers. What their sacrifices were, the type of people they had to be and the legacy they left after the war.

These Marines were responsible for winning the war in the Pacific. And the Navajo Code proved to be valuable in that endeavor.

Serving a country that has mistreated them says a lot of our Indigenous Peoples integrity and love of the land. This is true patriotism.

As a retired United States Marine, I say thank you to a Navajos for your love of your country. During the my 21 years of service, I had the distinct pleasure to work with several Navajos in my different unit during my career. Outstanding warriors, all of them! The is no doubt in my mind that the Codetalkers made the difference between defeat and victory for the United States in World War II. God Bless you all!

There is a respectful exhibit at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, VA to explain the role of the Code Talkers in WWII. Very nice to see!

I was a forward observer in the 2000s. We were taught about the history of the code talkers & I had a Navajo from Shiprock on my team, he was the best guy we had. Thank you Elder for the video.

Last year, I visited the Chippewa tribe's museum in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. I was talking with the lady who was working in the book store. She told me that they have classes there that teach their children their native language. She said she was not allowed to speak English when the children are there. I know the history of how children were punished for speaking a native language in public schools out West. It's beautiful children are learning to speak the language of their ancestors.

I just finished reading "Code Talker" by Chester Nez. Of course being a former Marine for 20 years and two combat tours of duty, I was aware of the Code Talkers and their very important service to our Country and our Corps. I have also been fortunate enough to have met two Code Talkers during my time living in Arizona. "Semper Fi" brother.

Thank you sir. It is a honor and privilege.
Back in December 1995, at USMC Recruit Depot San Diego, I met several windtalkers, raiders and many ww2 Marines.
No words can describe the day I met those heros and heard the stories from their mouths.
Thank you again for sharing such knowledge.
The Marine Corps and the Navajo have a very blessed relationship.

BTW I did have a grand uncle in the Corps on Iwo in the first wave.b
