Bangabandhu is not the founder of Awami League. He was a founding member but not the founder. When General Khalid Musarraf was asked to take the presidency he said that army has nothing to do with politics and handed over power to civilian.

Shankharibazar massacre (Bengali: শাঁখারীবাজার গণহত্যা) was a massacre of the Hindus of the Shankharibazar area of Old Dhaka on 26 March 1971 by the Pakistani occupation army.[1] The survivors fled to the villages on the other side of the Buriganga, in the region now known as Keraniganj. Shankharibazar became deserted and dead bodies remained on the streets for quite a long time. The Pakistani establishment renamed the Shankharibazar Road to Tikka Khan Road.[

I remember reading that the press in India had an inkling about something going to happen in Bangladesh but due to censorship in India couldn't publish the story.
Also that US embassy tried to rescue Mujib at the last moment but that was too late.

Only minor correction is Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib wasn’t an original founder of the Awami League, infact he was only in his 20s when the party was founded in the 1940s but he did rise and become an influential leader of the party later on
