Hello students
hope you all are fine
Class-09
Experiment no 04
Sub-Biology
TOPIC: To demonstrate that oxygen gas is evolved during photosynthesis (To prove with the help of an aquatic plant that oxygen Gas is evolved during photosynthesis)
Expose the apparatus to the sunlight. After few hours, gas bubbles will form and collect in the test tube. Test the gas in the test tube. A glowing splinter bursts into the flame shows the presence of oxygen.
Hydrilla
To show that oxygen is produced during photosynthesis, aquatic plants like Hydrilla is used. To show that oxygen is produced during photosynthesis, aquatic plants like Hydrilla is used.
During photosynthesis process green plants utilizes energy from solar radiation, Co2 from atmosphere, water and minerals from obtained from soil to prepare their carbohydrate food and in turn evolve oxygen
Why is an aquatic plant used in the experiment?
Because hydrilla is a small plant and hence easy to handle and also it is a aquatic plant so it is able to breath in water whereas land plants are not. Explanation: hydrilla is an aquatic plant. So, it makes it easier to setup the experiment.1
What materials are required to prove that oxygen is produced during photosynthesis in the presence of light what procedure we need to follow to perform the experiment?
Take a glass Beaker with water. Place hydrilla plant bits in a short stemmed funnel and keep this funnel inverted position into beaker with water. Carefully , invert a test tube with full of water over the stem of the funnel. Place one apparatus in the sun and other in the dark for atleast 2-3 hours.
What are the apparatus required to prove oxygen is released in photosynthesis?
Answer. Requirements: A large Beaker, Some Hydrilla Plant, One Funnel, One Test tube, water and a glowing splinter of wood.
How do you measure oxygen production in aquatic plants?
Oxygen can be measured by counting bubbles evolved from pondweed, or by using the Audus apparatus to measure the amount of gas evolved over a period of time.
I hope you understand
