Hydrilla is an aquatic plant that can perform photosynthesis even in water that is why hydrilla was used.Adding baking soda during the experiment kick - starts the process of photosynthesis.

Hope this helps ❤

Hello! Nice video! I made some calculations about conversion of carbon dioxide to
glucose and release of oxygen. Lets take into account that 50 000 L of
air and calculate amount of carbon dioxide in it V (CO2) = 50 000 л * 0, 04% CO2 = 2000 л CO2 100% quantity of CO2 = 2000 L / 22, 4 L / моль = 89.285 mol
6CO2 + 6H2O = c6h12o6 (glucose) + 6O2
quantity of substance of glucose = 89.285 mol / 6 = 14.88 mol
weight (glucose) = n * Mr = 14.88 mol* 180 g / molглюкозы = 2, 678g and as a
side product it releases 2000L of O2/ How this number was obtained?
According to the equation amount of O2 is equaled to CO2 = O2 = 89.285 mol/ 22, 4 L / mol= 2000 L

Instead of dark reaction, " Light independent reaction " would be more appropriate I guess.

photosynthesis is a great idea to explain how plants interact with their natural environment but it's only an idea. The oxygen in the above demo came from the NaHCO3 that was added to the water and we all know there is no NaHCO3 in a plant's natural environment! So the process of photosynthesis is a great idea supported by contrived demonstrations. However what's even more amusing is that science has not come up with any mechanism whereby the alleged oxygen produced by plants bonds with nitrogen to form an air molecule!!

Science is insanely funny!!
