This looks like a pretty good feeder system on this hive set up for sure. Thanks for sharing.

Way to easy. Where are you going to get stung with this operation. LOL Pretty cool setup - wish they were cheaper.

You can buy the Apimaye bottom boards on Amazon too if you just want the bottom boards to use with your wooden ware

I got lured into a Flow Hive and am just iffy to get another more pricey hive. I’ve seen the Apimaye and just can’t get myself to buy another hive other than my typical Langstroth. Thanks for sharing this.

Kaymon, I have a few of these hives and just recently used the top feeder with syrup. It seems that the ventilation in the feeder and the cover allowed the smell to waft out around outside the hive. I’m concerned that it may cause a robbing situation. Did you notice anything similar? I posted a video of the bees being attracted to the nuc.

Do you leave the feeders in even when you aren’t using them so they don’t build comb up top?

Just fed the first sugar feeding on June 25, and it was easy just as you said. Since we are in dearth, I experienced a massive robbing issue as the smell of the sugar water must be escaping thru the ventilation at top. I shut up app entrances but the bees just won't leave. Have you tried to feed in the dearth yet and what is your experience?

How to do it the poor way.
If you build hive bodies you're ripping off about 1.5 inches off a 1x12. Make shims with the scraps. Feed with zip lock freezer bags. The bees take the feed extremely fast using the bag method. The downside is you can't re-use the bags.

I just set one of these up and I have a lot of dead/drowned bees. Looks like he is using a thicker syrup than I am, i'll have to try that.

Been using these for a couple years. Only problem is they built up too damn fast. If you need wooden supers for the Apimaye 7 frame nuc's, I worked with Ohio Bee Box Company to come up with 7 frame supers that fit perfectly.

Hey Kamon - thank you for all of the great information you have been providing. I have the 10 frame system with two top feeders. Do you know how much syrup each side can hold? Somewhere along the way I thought you had mentioned one gallon but I can not find that - Thank you for your time, . - Joe

Hi, coming in late to the conversation....but...will this work on a double-nuc system?

What ratio is your sugar water? When you poured it out it looked awful thick.

Hey Kamon, have you considered trying a Layen's hive? I've got one built and running. Seems decent on a backyard scale.

I noticed your syrup is really thick. Is that because it's cooler or because you're mixing with a bunch of sugar.... Like more than 1 to 1.?

I just got a apimaye hive :)

Hey K-man, That is a nice setup but, I just can't bring myself to cough up over $400 for it. To me, it's just as good as but, not better than a standard wooden setup but, thanks for the vid.

Idk how I get drownings yet supposedly none in this...my plastic feeder screen/ladder should fix the drowning.

Prob with a lot of those fancy feeders is thin plastic, easily breaks, and really hard to clean. Thanks for video tho!
