I've thought about this a fair bit. I'm seeing a lot of nostalgia for the 80s lately. not in design themes, but in ideals and attitude. People have an affection for the 90s which is dominating fashion and graphic design now, but they *wish* they were living in the 80s. People just want to level up and treat the state of the worldnas the new normal so they dont have to be distressed by it all the time. a self-induced hyper-ignorance of the road to hell our planet is busy careening along.

I think design is going to reflect that by harking back to the extravagance of the 80s, and we had a brief art deco moment a few years ago but I think it's going to come back again in a big way. Also traditional styles in home design etc will continue to rise. People want grand comfort as a barrier between them and the realities of the world.
