my neighbour hates Ham Radio

Moving my vertical antenna to keeps the neighbour happy.
He makes wild claims that I effect his home phone signal, mobile phone has lower signal, and his tv sometimes is pixilated..... Most of these are easily explained, but it still doesn't stop people blaming the local Amateur for everything.
1. Home phone - he changed location of the base station and trying to get reception throughout the 2nd story of the house.
2. my mobile signal level is down too must be a Vodafone thing.
3. His antenna is at a 45 degree angle looking towards the International Space station. Maybe he likes SSTV.
Hi isn't the imitate. neighbour - up a few fences, but doesn't like the position of my vertical as the western sun reflects off it, hence time to move it.

I used to just tell my neighbors to sit on my antenna and rotate. Lmao

Glad you erected an antenna and are able to get on the air. For me, I don't tell the neighbors what I like and don't like about them so I don't allow them to tell me what I can do. have one 83 foot tower behind the garage and one 56 foot tower along side of the house. The neighbor behind me has a swimming pool and makes a lot of noise in the summer. I don't tell them to keep quiet and they don't tell me to take down my tower.

It's nice of you to compromise, I would not have.
It's my property, and if I'm not causing interference then honestly too bad. In my experience once you yeild to one demand, it becomes a regular occurance of complaints.

That was nice of you to compromise with your neighbour.

Does your neighbor pay your mortgage? If not, they can get right over it.

Have you tried a EFHW antenna? They can be great performers and stealthy. 73 Joe

I see that someone beat me to it in the comments, but I was thinking, why not just paint the pole so it doesn’t reflect?

When I lived in Sacramento, I had an annoying woman two doors up complaining I was getting into her TV, and threatened me she'd report me to the FCC. I tried to work with her, told her that it could well be the age of her antenna and that it probably had corrosion on the elements and joints where her co-ax connected to it. I don't use the antenna, I have cable, Ahhhh, then you'd better notify the cable company I told her, it's out of my hands, and let them know I'll be reporting them to the FCC as they probably have a "leaky" joint in their feed cable which needs to be rectified ASAP or it could cause interference to me on 2 meters and that would be illegal. She got the Sh*^'s big time and told me she'd be on the phone to the FCC, I showed her an FCC publication and offered her it, she declined. I told her the FCC will be sending her a copy if she calls them. She ended up moving a couple of months later...

I run an EFHW into an oak tree in the backyard. Its pretty stealthy but storms/winds in Texas I am always afraid the tree is going to snap my wire

I have a 50ft tower with a stepir. Not sure if my neighbors like it or not. Never thought much about it. Im sure they would be too scared to confront me. While i keep to myself, im not a very nice person, and im sure they have already learned that leason.

You could paint it to stop reflections!

I believe there would be a great market for a vertical that raises and retracts when not in use. 73 de VK2AOE

We HAM RADIO operators do put our Antennas wherever we want. We follow all the procedures according the law and
since we have our licence there is no problem. So your neighbour is not right.

You have a British accent, but there are palm trees in your yard. I guess you are from Southern England. :) Kudos for being a good neighbor.

Here is a neighbour who needs a tin foil hat to shield him from radio signals cooking his brain. Oh wait, it is too late already! AR Class Licence is coming. Sorry about that....

This is why it's a Good Idea to use: "Time, Distance, and Shielding" as the Wise Rules that they are... Remember that when dealing with a hazardous source, no matter if it's a Gamma Emitter or a Karen, that Physics is Physics: By doubling your distance from the source you always decrease your exposure by a factor of four. No matter that perhaps it's your neighbour who needed a "reorientation" in this case, instead of the antenna. Since reasoning with a Monkey is useless and usually ends up with the Monkey merely throwing it's excrement at you, (yet another reason to stick to that distance rule!) it would be interesting to know one year later if Karen had any more heavy "issues" that morphed out of randomness and needed dealt with?
