I'm a full time trader who sells credit spreads, came across this looking for new ideas / others strats and I can confirm a lot of this is correct. Props to Corey I do think he's onto something.

However, IF YOU ARE A NEW TRADER, do NOT just walk into this solely on this video. It doesn't cover in great detail how to manage these positions. For me, It took me 4 years to really understand how to bob and weave in the markets in real time. I have taken some devastating losses and you will learn those lessons as well. Hopefully for less money than me.

That said, do your research, do your practice, and I swear you can make it!

So you paid $2600 for your 6 month leap. But two days later it gets hit and you have to liquidate it to buy back your covered call. You're left holding the bag.

one thing you need to consider is IV. If IV is high then the long leap call options will be very expensive. If the market doesn't move much the IV drop, the value of the long call option also dropping, you will be losing a lot of money.

So Lets say You have 200 shs SPY. you sell 2 calls. your calls run ITM so you roll them out a few days or so. I assume the next day you wouldnt sell more calls bc you already have 2 covered calls that youre waiting to be profitable correct? thx

You stated that long leaps don't lose money when the market turns down...but they do. They lose intrinsic value as well as some theta. Am I missing something?

I find it odd to on one hand say how safe a LEAPS is because the SPY always goes up, and then turn around and write calls against it. I agree with your first point, which is why I write puts instead. Put credit spreads specifically. The SPY/SPX (I use the SPX) go up a lot more often than than they go down and I've found Puts are wins far more often than Calls.

I wouldn’t exactly call this “passive”. This is options trading. “Passive” is buying treasuries and holding them to maturity.
