Turn it up!!!
Hey kids, Uncle Ben here with another hair-raising 80’s shred classic! Here’s my cover of the Steve Lynch guitar solo from “Turn Up the Radio” by Autograph!
This solo is a blast to play, and there’s a handful of licks in this that I see badly transcribed all the time. In order to help put an end to fake news tabs, I’ll be putting up a full lesson video on how to play this thing on Weekend Wankshop! Stay tuned and subscribe so you’ll be ready to rip.
Just like the original, I double tracked this panned hard left and right for maximum awesome.

Huge thanks to my man Jeff Rupert for making this killer backing track!

The singer for Autograph saved my life in 1984, True story. Was being kidnapped at the Beverly Center in L.A. & they walked in while this dude was trying to force me out the door with him. I knew who Autograph was & said something to them and the singer literally pulled me away from the guy & he took off out the door. And also, this solo has ALWAYS been a great use of the whole fretboard, with amazing skill.

Sometimes you do not appreciate a solo untill you see someone play it. That was great! Gave me a new love for the song

There's no denying that 80's rock was and is still the best

Frikken awesome Uncle Ben, that was perfect! We used to do this as cover song back when it first came out with our leopard skin spandex, parachute pants, and of course the long hair! Cant forget the bandannas too. Those were the days!

You've got it when it's so smooth and looks so easy the way you do it. Like this.

Beautiful, as always, Dr. Eller. I admire all your Gold-Metal Olympic fretwork very, very much.
I learned that awesome anthem song in the '80s as a puppy guitarist... by ear, of course.
The only thing I may respectfully note is the very last phrase. I tap the phrase, fret by fret down the neck on consecutive, adjacent frets. That is what I hear on the studio recording. No slides, even though I see Steve Lynch doing what you do in Autographs own video.
Does it matter..? My bad. 🤟😎👍🎸🤔

A classic example of a solo that a totally adds to the track, as opposed to the typical fluff.
