I haven't played TFTD in a really long time so this longplay will probably take a lot of time.
16:00 The Youtube video encoder seems to crap itself because of all those dye grenades...

Ahhh.. Good old Pain and suffering in PC game form. Good times. *Selects superhuman difficulty with 0% hesitation...* Good god man control yourself...

God these first X-COM games were soooo good. I've played the heck of this and Apocalypse (the third one).
I still remember the horror of engaging the first Lobster Man

What is so cool with this game, I remember you got like a book with the game that contained all kinds of cool lore. Jake Armstrong I believe was this veteran from the first invasion, and they reference him here in the intro. Also, I remember being blown away when I one day realized you could shoot down a UFO with multiple barracudas at the same time

Dude... I NEED TO PLAY THIS. Holy... How have I missed this iconic game series' origins, and games like Space Crusade for so long. These games definitely should have had better marketing.

By far one of the best games of the 90's to me.

Boo-yeah! Good old XCOM, in acid colors!
And that is why I rarely used smoke grenades - it makes both enemy and your units almost blind, like in a night missions. Good thing to cover your units, not to hide your enemies.

This strategy is crazy. Consumes too much time units to move. I used to press as many soldiers out ASAP. Did cca 200 UFO kills, that would take my whole life to finish if I played like this. But its interesting, never thought of using those grenades.

i miss this game a lot, wish someone would remake this game to download and play for ipads or android tablets with the same sound effects, it was so addictive. hope my wish comes true and maybe create it as a league game where we can all play online taking either the alien side or human side, that would make it truly fun

Who else hated the high-sea anti-terror missions? Those tankers had a gazillion rooms and corridors - down to the lower decks.

Wish someone would mod a modern xcom game to have a few missions like these

I've been playing this for years, but not once have I ever used smoke grenades, as I didn't know what they were for. Well Duh!!!

I'm playing tffd after a long time.
I'm stuck with science research.
I've got the MC control and also the distruptor launcher but no tank, no armor, no vehicle to research.
Still the basic vehicle that are oneshotted if I try to engage a very large dreadnaught.
What have I missed?

OpenXcom says it is not compatible with TFTD. I bought it from Steam it is using DOSBox but it is not easy to play with it. Can you explain your setup? Thank you
