Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Monday urged the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to pause controversial judicial reforms that have sparked massive protests across the country.

This came a day after Netanyahu sacked his Defense Minister Yoav Gallant after he opposed the reforms, which critics say hand the prime minister too much power at the expense of the independence of the judiciary.

Following Gallant's sacking, in a spontaneous outburst of anger, tens of thousands of angry Israelis poured onto the streets on Sunday night.

🤣🤣🤣Benjamin Netanyahu has been power drunk for a while, this is what happens when a leader is been in leadership position for almost 3 decades. He is corrupt and wants to be a president, a judge and a lawmaker.

We managed somehow to separate religion and state now is the time to separate politics and Judicial system. Politician role is to make laws and not to influence the courts on how they administer these laws.

The company I work for and others are stopping their work in support of the protest.
And also offer people's free time to go and protest.

What is wrong with Netanyahu? Does he know he is dividing Israel and weakening the country? He is doing Israel's enemies a favor.

Something is going on in the world at the highest levels. The people are starting to react. I hope not too late. The chickens always come home to roost. The audacity of this government. To think they can treat a highly educated population in this way. If the people are not careful, they will end up like the Palestinians.
