How to stain wood with fire: We used a rose bud & a propane tank to torch this 2X pine board table top.

I plan on doing this with my laundry room counter I'm making. I will seal the wood after charring. I love the way it brings out the grain of the wood.

just moved into a new house, still has all original wood working, would love to do this to it. Would I have to sand it all down before doing so?

looks good! Are those boards glued up? I have something similar that I want to do that too, and I'm hesitant because I already glued it up.

Do you use a sealer once you have finished the burn process? Thank you. I intended to burn my western red cedar pergola posts and beams. Had wanted to seal after with maybe a clear semi gloss or satin finish? Anyone else have any experience with such a task? TiA
