Designing A Working Dive-Bomber Propeller Plane In Create Mod

Last video, I started building an airbase and today I'm going to design the first working plane for it! Using Create mod and a lot of addons, I can build fully working propeller planes taking into account features like flaps, weight distribution, wing size, and propulsion!

You should build a Zeppelin next with full interior kinda like a mobile base

I'm a robotics engineer, not aerospace but I do a fair bit of work on UAVs. Making sharp turns in an aircraft does significantly cut your speed in reality just as it does here, in reality though you'd generally be using smaller control surfaces with a higher resolution actuation (i.e. real control surfaces can be 25% or 50% active, not necessarily just on or off). You also keep calling your elevators flaps, flaps are an entirely different thing, they generally go on the inside of the wing (not tail) and are used to increase your low-speed lift by changing the airfoil to one better suited to low speeds, they're not designed to rotate the airframe in any way unlike elevators which are a type of control surface, control surfaces are optimised the exact opposite way to have as much effect on the rotation of the aircraft (in elevators' case pitch) as possible while minimising effect on airfoil

In my opinion, Create addons like this beat all the mods that just add vehicles. You have to figure it out yourself, you can make whatever you want. Fishing rod, not fish.
Just like vanilla redstone.

Seeing you build planes, my mind went immediately to the Flying Fortress, the Prydwen from Fallout, and the Amerikabomber or the plane form Captain America.

Be didn’t even finish the airport and he has already built a fighter squadron! Love the series keep it up!

Hell yeah. Building planes with Halo music. Truly a man of culture

Howdy, student pilot and aviation enthusiast here. I by no means claim to be an aerospace engineering expert so take all this with a grain of salt but to answer some of your questions. This mod is actually really cool in that in includes many of the problems aircraft designers face. Look into the four forces that act upon an aircraft, lift, gravity (weight), thrust, and drag. Angle of attack, which is the direction of relative wind in relation to the chord line of the airfoil (wings) is also hugely important. So on to your questions, lift counteract weight, when flying straight and level. Air moving over the wings generate lift. So to overcome more weight, you need more wing area, more power, or both. In a turn, as you bank, some of your lift component goes into making the turn since your aircraft is no longer perpendicular to the earth, and you will need more power and some elevator to maintain altitude. You will also be increasing angle of attack which in turn increases drag which will reduce airspeed and can even lead to a stall. And aircraft without a vertical stabilizer are possible but notoriously hard to fly and are only really flyable with computer assisted controls. Center of gravity is also hugely important for handling and performance. A slightly nose heavy CG is generally preferred for safety reasons.

sbeev as a ww2 enthousiast the stuka is my favorite ww2 plane id recommend making the 2nd half of the wings a bit more angled

The plane turned out really great! I honestly would have never been able to make something like that. Alos here's a bit of help with plane physics:
1. Elevators don't really work in the middle of the plane. You can put it on the front although you will need to reverse the controls.
2. Having the centre of mass and the centre of lift really close to each other will make the plane stable.
3. Obviously having more wing parts will make flight easier (because there are more part generating lift)

Getting the hang of it isn't easy but to help it I can recommend you a game: Trailmakers. It makes learning all of this much easier.

First of all, it's very fun to see you use these mods, these are the exact ones. And secondly, at 12:15. there is a mod that adds those inverted redstone resistors. It's called Clockwork additions, I believe they have them. But they don't have vanilla recipes or atleast didn't (haven't checked) but if not you can just make it with datapacks.

Sbeev is learning the basics of airplane design! I find it funny the way he named things. Such as the Elevators and ailerons. Flaps are completely different and serve different functions. I haven't watched fully but maybe in the next plane you can add yaw. It basically makes it so you can turn left or right without rolling. It is just added into the tail.

Edit 1:
To answer question 2 at 26:15 I am not too familiar with how this mod works, BUT generally it has to do with the location of the center of lift relative to the center of mass. Another way to put it is the location/size of wings relative to your CM. If your CL is to far forward and or too strong you'll pitch up if your CL is too far back and or too weak you'll pitch down. (Note that I could be VERY wrong, I am using my trailmakers brain for this)

Edit: 2
Dang the call out is crazy

If you’re going to go with all the WWII German stuff for your military things, you should definitely built the Breitspurbahn for your military train, it would fit in really well.

18:50 It's NOT Becouse of the mod! Unassemble and Reassemble the flaps! That's just a bug when they stop working

You should check out shao's Valkyrien skies fire control system. He made a computercraft program that can automatically target mobs and hit them from thousands of blocks away. This would be useful for your Corvette!
