I added garlic powder, onion powder, lemon pepper and a dash of vinaigrette - with a bit of olive oil mayo. Turned out really nicely! Eating it on my salmon patties now. :)

When one wants to make an even better (much, much better) recipe, add a teaspoon of minced garlic, some mayo, some Dijon mustard, a dash of Worcestershire sauce, dash of hot sauce and salt and pepper to taste! I made this several years ago to go with our Xmas tradition of prime rib and even people who don't like horseradish were raving at how good it was!

I love chef John's recipes. I'm wondering why fresh horseradish wasn't grated? It's also a lot cheaper than a jar of preserved horseradish.

@heelrunner they are 2 completely different things however, when outside of japan, most wasabi are partially made of horseradish because its less expensive than the real stuff. If youre confused, google it and go to wikipedia.

love love LOVE horseradish. When I order prime rib (med rare to rare, of course) I always request straight horseradish, sauce is never strong enough. I like a ton of it in my cocktail sauce too. One of my fave things to dip in horseradish sauce/aioli is juicy fat strips of fried portabella mushrooms.

I like to add Worcestershire sauce to my horseradish. It adds a great flavor. I'm actually surprise chef John that you didn't add that in your recipe, but added lemon juice. I'll try the lemon juice next time.
