8:00 - have you tried turning the “pan tablet mode’ on?
Could help with those “flow killers”

This is EXCELLENT and EXACTLY what I was looking for!! Thank you!!! My only question is how to pinch with your fingers on the ipad? Is there a setting to allow you to have touch control? Lastly, are you able to launch clips with using your fingers and not the Apple pencil? Thank you again!!! This was FABULOUS!!!!

Hey! Really nice video! I’m a composer for theatre and I was hopping to use sidecar to make the iPad like my remote control for ableton running on the theatre control room to be able to come to the centre of the audience and do some surround mixes and etc. The question that I have is this; if I’m in a theatre where I don’t have Wi-Fi to connect to sidecar, can I still connect Mac and IPad via an Ad hoc Wi-Fi created on the Mac?

How are you my friend ? I'm interested to know if you still use it regularly. If it is important to you on a day-to-day basis or not so much. Thank you

It's interesting that so much of the video is on getting away from the traditional production environment yet still being able to work. That's exactly why I did a search for ableton live on a tablet and found this video.

I thought about drum machines, but they tend to be convoluted with menu diving and frustrating limitations. So I came to the conclusion a laptop or tablet with a midi controller would be a better option. Something like an ipad with ableton on it and a small midi controller could be great to just get away. Sitting in a computer chair for hours on end gets old. Sometimes you need a scenic change, even if it is only to another room.

I really hope one day something like Live is on the ipad natively. But I might just end up with a cheap laptop and a midi controller instead. It's too bad no one makes a device like a beatstep pro that can dock on top of a laptop keyboard or would be built in. So it would be an all in one device with a nice sized screen. I suppose there are trade offs everywhere though.

Really loved this video mate, all the things you mentioned where the reasons i wanted to get the ipad was to basically have a way of working that didnt feel as much like working so i could go away from my pc or outside to work, i really really hope they give the option of making a mac type os for the ipad because the processor is more than capable of doing it. and it would make my life soo much better. I dont understand why they dont just give the option of just installing the mac os onto the ipad lol

Thank you for this review! It got me excited -even if there were *flow killers!, I cannot wait to switch ecosystems but I will only be able to afford an iPad pro or a MacBook at a time, and this is really helping me to decide

I want to get some illustration going too so the pen is top, and altho music is a hobbie I feel really picky about it, people are doing so many dope things with Ableton <3, I think it doesn't look bad at all at least for what I need

Hi Thanks for the video, I have a question. I am looking for an alternative to control Ableton live out of my musician spot(where I also place my computer) and walk out of the stage and go to main house to hear backing tracks and be able to adjust volumes. is this possible with this?

I'm not familiar with Ableton (I use FL - I have an Ableton liscense and plan to make the transition eventually) but I wanted to make a suggestion to hopefully fix an issue you have. if it requires two fingers to move your playlist left to right (given your zoom problem) try to use two fingers together side by side so that there's no chance of them moving independently from one another and the ipad misunderstanding the gesture as zoom. thanks for the review brother, really enjoyed it and really makes me wanna get an iPad so I don't have to sit at my MacBook. do you ever use FL? if so have you tried using sidecar with it? I would imagine it would be about the same experience given the iPad's not running either daw stand-alone

Really well done video. I've been contemplating forgoing an upgrade of my Macbook Pro for an iPad Pro + Mac Mini combo, especially with the new M1, but I don't know if I could get any practical music creation or performance with just the iPad Pro. Still a beginner but my ideal scenario would be to not have to bring a whole laptop to a performance but have the iPad Pro with my gear, or whatever minimalist setup would be possible.

Tested and proven. I bought an ipad and an Apple pencil especially to clarify doubts about this. I do not recommend it, if one day Ableton releases a specially made App it is likely that I will try it again. greetings
