I don't necessarily like China.
But I started to respect China just because of China's National Table Tennis Team.

What they are demonstating is pure discipline, hard work and deep passion to table tennis. Their mental strength and the level of consistency until the very last moment of the game
is unbelievable!

It's not that their opponents are bad; table tennis' level has grown so much worldwide and the Europeans, Japanese, Koreans, other non Chinese players are also very strong, and it's not like they are doing very bad against the Chinese. They are being a threat and giving pressure to Chinese players during the games. The game to 11points is very tough for all players and anything can happen really. But the Chinese are just one level higher in table tennis than their competitors, especially in the crucial moments and ESPECIALLY in the most important rallies! I am impressed how these players can make that few errors when the ball is moving that fast with that many changes of pace, rotation and direction each time! I mean, the Chinese players are human too afterall, they do make mistakes. and when the opponent makes strong attacks they get nervous too! But they just tend to be better in the crucial rallies. What's more impressive is that they insert power and apply topspin to that difficult balls each time. How hard are they practicing? How well are they tactically prepared? Just Amazing!

I have watched Ma Long's games for years now and yes he is my all time favorite table tennis player and even athlete but I really wanted Lin Gaoyuan to beat Ma Long today. I think it was his big chance.. the match was so close. I hope Lin Gaoyuan can win some big tour in the future

Mima Ito vs Wang Manyu was great too. Crazy rally at 3:05:42!!!! Wow!!! I don't really like Mima Ito to be honest, because her playing style is not my favorite... i think her gestures are kind of too much... but she really could've beaten the world champion... so close. She played good even after being caught up to 5:5.

Good that we are now able to watch another Sun Yingsha vs Wang Manyu match tomorrow.

Seeing the semifinals filled up with Chinese national flags almost every time in major table tennis tournaments may be dissapointing and even boring to other nations. But man I just have to say that I respect China because of table tennis.

Ito must have been focusing on improving backhand and thus failing to at least maintain forehand skill level. As a result, while her backhand skills do show tremendous progress, her forehand's become less consistent. This lack of consistency costed her this match. Had she not missed so many forehand smashes that should have never happened, she would have won. No big deal, through. Just go back to improve forehand. Another area for improving: Rhythm. Almost always in high speed and fierce confrontation, it's not easy to slowdown when necessary. To smash higher, slower ball, however, you do need to slowdown a little bit to turn your body more sideways to accumulate energy. Ito was too hasty to do such smashes.

Lim is a rising star deserving much attention. His advantage is exceedingly strong power. Disadvantage: Lasting not long enough, perhaps because of lacking the extraordinary physical strength required to sustain the power. Needs to working on improving it.

Love Mima, but she is her own worst enemy, she continues to beat herself. She just ok with making simple mistakes, when playing at game speed level 2 she tries nearly impossible max level 5 hitting, and while she will hit these incredible shots 40% of the time, it wasn't that necessary to win the point, she is faster than any of her opponents

Wang Yidi took 10 years inbetween points and never got carded so she kept controlling rhythm of the match 👍

Ito just like Flack who using the short pips to avoid any spin and push. Nothing much. Her forehand is weak. For me to play, I will play short game and lots of underspin, she is short in height too. That will force her to push long outside the table. Just remember, never ever play close table or inside without underspin because short pips rubber is good on speed and not sensitive to spin.
