I had Japanese pressings of the Beatles albums when I was a teenager. They were sold at a record store in a place called the Shore Mall in South Jersey. As far as I could tell and remember the 3 different series were based on what flag was at the top of the "obi" (sp?) strip. From what I remember there were the British, American & Japanese flags at the top. At the time I read everything I could get my hands on the Beatles at the time. I always bought the ones with the British flag on the top because For that was what they released in England (all the albums had the Apple label on them), The only one I bought with the American flag on it was the Magical Mystery Tour. For that "compilation" just made more sense. Unfortunately I do not have any of the albums anymore (nor would I ever want to sell them). When I moved out to Nevada (on a wing and a Prayer) I had to make choices on what I could take with me. I left the albums, stereo & computer (apple //e) at my uncle's house. My uncle died before I could get back and were sold.

You might want to find the Japanese version of "Beatles No. 5", that was a good album. Also, EMI Odeon, before 1988, would spray a chemical on their records that it would never attract dust. The records were like playing a compact disc on your turntable. The reason I said 1988 is that "Past Masters" did not have that Chemical on it. I was very happy with my US copy of that album. I do not believe in paying more than $40 for a record.
