O Μίκης Θεοδωράκης απεβίωσε στις 2 Σεπτεμβρίου 2021 σε ηλικία 96 ετών και τάφηκε σύμφωνα με την τελευταία του επιθυμία στον Γαλατά Χανίων. Αυτο ειναι το χωριο του απο ψηλα, λιγο εξω απο τα Χανια της Κρήτη.

The village of Galatas (like Daratsos) was inititially a village on a hill in the outskirts of Chania overlooking the Kalamaki beaches. Nowadays Galatas is part of the agglomeration of the city of Chania on the Greek island of Crete. The lower parts are called 'Kato' (=under/low) Galatas.

However, Galatas is a very important place as world known composer Mikis Theodorakis and his family from his father's side originates from Galatas. After the death of Mikis Theodorakis on the 2nd September of 2021 his body was buried in his home town Galatas in the family grave along with his father, mother and brother. The drone footage was taken in Kato Galatas along the coast of the village. Mikis Theodorakis himself is buried in the older part of the village which is at the other side of the highway a few kilometers inland.
