"I was named after the city of Jenin. My parents deliberately chose that name as a sign of resistance."

We spoke to Jeanine Hourani, a Palestinian organiser and writer, about the significance behind the meaning of her name, and how Shireen Abu Akleh's reporting from the West Bank city during the Second Intifada played a role in the awakening of her Palestinian identity.

@jeaninehourani was one of the speakers at London’s #Nakba rally and protest last weekend, in which an estimated 15,000+ people attended in solidarity with Palestinians, and to demand justice for #ShireenAbuAkleh, a veteran Al Jazeera journalist and household name who was murdered by Israeli forces last week. Lots of similar rallies took place in cities around the world over the same weekend.
