I am sorry you have to go through such a big event. Welcome Home!! I live in Western PA and receive most of my medical care in Pittsburgh. I pray the move causes the least stress possible and the happiness will be immeasurable! So thankful for you, your knowledge, and your kindness.

I enjoy all of your posts - thank you for them. I lived in Erie, PA for five years and loved the "smallness" of that area. But am from MN and have returned here to live in the gorgeous summers. Since I've retired I now winter in Texas. The nature in both places is amazing and can teach us much about life. Best of luck to you and your family moving. It is a difficult thing to do.

Oh I remember that move. Left Hollywood after being there 10 years. Something magical about California and I’m so glad I visited all the awesome places while I lived there. I came back to Kentucky and started a family. Great to follow your family’s journey! God’s speed!

I have been an RN for 34 yrs at a Level 1 Trauma Center. The last 22 yrs have been PACU ( 20 yrs ) and Pre op( 2 1/2yrs). Prior was MICU. Over the years I’ve seen the older anesthesiologists I work with(who are approximately 60) and they are so burnt out bc they have had no work/life balance. I’m talking 60-80 hrs work weeks. Part time for them is 40 hrs/week. The one’s I’ve worked with that are your age have left so they can spend more time with their family. I really respect that. There is a shortage of anesthesiologists and we have just got on board hiring CRNA’s( in the last 2 yrs (who are great!!) but I have seen that it’s actually caused the attendings more stress bc they can be responsible for up to 4 OR’s! Some have expressed they would rather just work on their own. One of them wanted to retire and they said they would sue him if he did it at that time!! He’s been there 30 yrs and an amazing doctor that we all highly respect. He had to wait another year.
So happy for you that you will have a better lifestyle for you and your family!!
