Imagine blaming Nvidia for what the laptop manufacturers are doing.

Nvidia doesn’t ship their GPUs at different power levels. The manufacturer configures the chips for the power level they’re targeting.

Can't compare the laptop version of either to the desktop version laptop versions are limited by cooling which explains why the 4080 is able to squeeze out a little more performance because it's slightly easier to cool so the 4080 can keep clocks higher

It's been this way ever since they stopped using max q branding with the 2000/3000 series...A 3060 can beat a 3080 equipped laptop because of the power levels situation.

I somewhat recently found out about that, minimum wattage to buy is 130 for gaming, I have laptop with 3060 150 watts, laptop, great thing.

Yeah this is one of the reasons why I prefer desktops, in laptop gpu have to be small so no space for them unlike a graphics card in a mid tower.

It's not always about fps for everyone tho. Some people take advantage of the extra vram in professional applications, and in those scenarios a 4090 can be a must have

For those of you buying a gaming laptop always check your processor type( I mean the h, x and all) and ur gpu's max power( u can find them on the nvidia website). A 3060 115w will beat a 80w 3070 and maybe a 80w 3070ti. Happened to my friend he got a laptop which had 3070ti 80w and my 115w 3060 performed better in alot of games. (Sorry for my grammatical errors, English isn't my first language)
