What Marvin said about not paying back a loan on an insurance policy is not entirely true. If you do not pay back the loan, interest is added each year and continues to compound until your loan value equals your cahs value. Then the policy dies.

There's no such thing as tax free anything. The reason you don't pay taxes on a WLP is that you're borrowing your own money. The interest you earn, at best, is a meager 3%. Also, you don't pay taxes on that 3% because the government considers it a refund of premiums over paid. There's a lot more, but I won't get into it.

What he said about paying interest one way, or the other, was good, and true. The HELOC thing I'm kind of up in-the-air about. But, personally, I wouldn't have anything to do with a WLP.

Buying insurance to get wealthy is a great way to be separated from your money. RUN

I don't agree with not paying cash for a car. Unless the car is an asset that brings income, it doesn't make sense to borrow to pay for a depreciable item. Use cash and buy a good used car. The money saved from finance charge and forced full coverage insurance could be invested to yield considerable returns. Of course borrowing makes sense if the return on the loan is bigger than the interest on the loan. Can we be specific instead of throwing out this cliche' narratives.

OMG the nuggets of financial literacy shared on this video was mind blowing! I have made so many of the mistakes with money that Marvin shared that I am embarrassed to admit.
