In today’s polarized climate, education has become a hot-button political issue in some quarters, playing a prominent role in media and public debates. As the 2024 presidential election kicks into high gear, educators may have to navigate not just civics lessons but also the rough waters of book bans, instructional challenges, and contentious school board meetings. What should responsible, ethical educators do to engage students and families in productive ways? How can educators and leaders help bridge divides in their communities?
