well it comes down to each of us. are WE willing to care enough to get a friend or two to go to these wasteful stores - trader joe's, WHOLE FOODS, SAFEWAY, and all the other grocery stores in our areas so that we can pick up these items and deliver them to the rescue facilities in our communities? it doesn't have to be an elaborate scheme - just a couple of us going to one or two stores a couple times a month or so and deliver the food to these needy places. if you care, show it. LIVE IT.

i work in a supermarket and i know for a fact that they throw away perfectly good food. And if you try to take any, you can be dismissed from your job immediately.

I asked a local smaller grocery about getting produce but it was already promised to a pig farmer. Area shelter and stores give to him too - how are pigs more important than people? More importantly - this businessman is saving tons of $ in free food for his large operation which likely is not an ethical animal treatment farm.

These are the types of the peopel that should hold the highest offices in government, heads of environment issues and running the country. It is unbelievable to me that this kind of waste is acceptable and not addressed when there are children through out our world, even in our own "developed" country's, in our own towns and living on our own streets. We can supposedly put men into space but logiscally it isnt viable to recycle and distribute this perfectly edible food to the people who reall
