Here's why multi-lateral approaches often don't work. Countries have different agendas and different needs. If Biden only decides to choose a course of action if he can get other countries to pull their weight, he will face the same problem every other President has faced. If it is in the US best interest to follow a certain course of action, it rarely will be to the same degree in other countries, hence, we have no choice but to go it alone.
