Disappointed that it’s going to be only a 5x optical zoom on the 15 pro ultra whereas the Samsung S22 & S23 ultra both have 10x optical zoom. I hope the Apple News is wrong about that

I feel like they will do like action mode for video. Instead for photo. At a certain point though, they clearly don’t concern (iPhone 12 PM, I know it’s not latest and greatest) themselves with digital zoom over about 1-2 digital.

Periscope lens COMPLETELY influences my decision!
Also 4:25 I think I could guess what they’re going to do here. Put a 48 MP sensor in there so that we can crop in two times, into the middle 12 MP, and get a 10x or 12x optical quality shot. No sources to back that up but it seems reasonable and certainly doesn’t hurt to hope

I’m never again getting sucked into Apple’s “bigger is better” motto like I did with the 7 plus. I hated the size of that phone, so I’m always just sticking with the standard Pro.

For me personally if was a photographer then periscope lens would influence me more, I like to zoom in but 3x is enough for me as I do allot more videos

I'm not buying another iPhone without a periscope zoom (or whatever else tech they use for a bigger zoom) Used both S21U and S22U. It really changes they way the camera is used.
But this year, I'm waiting for Fold 5. Used Fold 3 for several months, before it unexpectedly passed away from a cracked screen. Miss that format ever since.

I never use the zoom cameras on any phone, periscopic or otherwise. I can live well with a phone with just a regular and an ultrawide camera.

The camera will be crucial to whether I switch from my Galaxy s21 Ultra, which has 10X optical & 30X & 100X hybrid, to an iPhone. (I have an iPhone SE 1st gen as a backup right now & I use a McBook Air M1.) I took a cool pix of a fox running through my yard and two deer locking horns in the woods back of my house recently which coud never het with an iPhone. Yes, I take those Moon shots as well. So if the iPhone 15 Pro Max goes to 6X optical zoom, it will only be 4X zoom behind the Galaxies. But I might buy it so I can sync all my devices and eventually get an Apple Watch, though my FitBit Sense is pretty good!
