Short Biography of St Thomas Aquinas:
Thomas Aquinas was an Italian Dominican theologian hailed as the father of the Thomistic school of theology. A Catholic priest, he was also a prominent philosopher, and jurist in the tradition of scholasticism. He is hailed as the most influential Western medieval legal scholar and theologist, and was instrumental in the development of several concepts in modern philosophy. Thomas Aquinas was born on 28 January 1225 in Aquino, Kingdom of Sicily, Italy. At the age of 19, Thomas Aquinas decided to join the recently founded Dominican Order, and then in 1250 he was ordained in Cologne, Germany. He teaches theology at the University of Paris. Under the guidance of St. Albert the Great he continued his education until he obtained a doctorate in theology. Thomas Aquinas died on 7 March 1274 in Fossanova, Italy. On 18 July 1323 he was canonized by Pope John XXII.
